WEEE Regulations & Statement

We have a scheme in place that recycles your hardware and electronic goods.

What are the WEEE regulations?

Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) regulations are implemented to reduce the amount of waste electrical and electronic equipment that’s incinerated or sent to landfill sites in the UK. Reduction is achieved through various measures which encourage the recovery, reuse and recycling of products and components. The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2013 (as amended) is the underpinning UK legislation.

Our system

Most electrical goods can be repaired or recycled. This can save natural resources and help the environment.  If you do not recycle your electrical goods, your electrical equipment will likely be sent to a landfill where hazardous substances will seep out and cause soil and water pollution – harming humans and wildlife. This is a serious issue and as a result, the materials that compose these electronic goods need to be correctly segregated to ensure that every element of the device is suitably processed. This way no single piece or material element is ever disregarded when it could have been recycled.

We are committed to minimising environmental impact by offering our customers a free recycling service that will accept any old, unwanted electrical items on a ‘1 for 1’, ‘like-for-like’ basis when purchasing a new ‘equivalent’ item from us, i.e. when you buy a new mod, you can bring in your old one. Our customers are entitled to return their old, unwanted electrical items to us whether they purchased these items in-store, online or by mail order.

As per WEEE regulations, this scheme is free for those who bring their goods to any of our brick-and-mortar stores. If this is not possible, we can accept all goods on this scheme via mail. This will require the user to pay a small postage charge. If this is something you’d be interested in please send your WEEE goods to our warehouse at the following address:

WEEE RETURNS, FLAVOUR WAREHOUSE LTD, GLOBAL WAY, DARWEN, BB3 0RW

We take back all types of electrical and electronic equipment that we sell and provide customers with at least 28 days to deliver their waste item(s). You’ll be able to tell if you can submit your old goods by looking at the packaging of the device. You should look for the crossed-out wheelie bin symbol:

This is a universal symbol that’s found on packaging throughout Europe. The symbol means that your goods can be retained and submitted through our campaign, or any other WEEE-approved wastage scheme. The symbol may or may not have a black bar below the wheelie bin icon. If you find it does not have this bar, it does not matter; it can still be readily processed through any WEEE-approved scheme. More information about this symbol can be found here:

Our scheme separates and records the quantity of recycled goods by weight (tonnage). Every month we receive a breakdown from the bureau of our waste collection partners. This document details how much of each raw material has been received and then processed from the quantity of WEEE we have submitted. The broken-down materials will often be sent off and processed by a plethora of manufacturers or can be inaugurated through the waste-to-energy (WTE) process, which generates energy (in the form of electricity and/or heat) from waste. The WTE process is a form of energy recovery that contributes power to the grid for the benefit of the community. More than 99% of all goods collected on this scheme are contributed or used in this manner and only a small, impermeable quantity of waste will be submitted to landfill.

Recycling vape kits

For your edification, we have attached some information detailing exactly how you should go about recycling your e-cigarettes. The following data has been submitted by ISM waste & recycling; https://ismwaste.co.uk/. The residues of cigarette alternatives (just like normal cigarette butts) are a waste problem. In the long run, all the plastic waste created by e-cigarettes will eventually become harmful to the environment. For this reason, people have begun looking for ways to recycle e-cigarettes. These steps break down how it’s done:

  • Dismantle the e-cigarette

The first thing to consider when recycling is segregation. So do a little bit of segregation and dismantle the different parts of the vaporizer. Most of the separate parts of the e-cigarette can be recycled, but they must first be separated, as recycling companies cannot process them whole. E-cigarettes, especially the more expensive ones, are made with several parts that should be easy to unscrew or unclip and separate from one another.

  • Put the battery in battery bins

Batteries of any kind are toxic. They are not supposed to be mixed with other waste products because their chemicals destroy the protective layer around landfills. This is one of the many reasons why there are designated battery bins that can take batteries away and recycle them.

  • Rinse the cartridge

Used e-cigarette cartridges are harmful if improperly disposed of. This is because they contain liquid nicotine. It is better to rinse them carefully with water before disposal or before recycling them.

  • Remove metal from vaporizer tanks

Lastly, if you want to recycle the vaporiser tanks, you have to remove the coil, or other metals that are in them. After removing the metals, what is left is the plastic or glass parts. You can now put them in recycling bins for plastic or glass. The bottom of almost every plastic product is a triangle with a number between one and seven, this is the plastic-type. Find out if your domestic recycling service recycles the plastic the vaporiser is made from before putting it in. If you are keen to recycle e-cigarettes, it requires a small bit of effort on your behalf, but it's worth it.
